WEWS-TV 5, the ABC affiliate here in Cleveland has been doing an apple experiment to test freshness preservation. Done at their studio, I don't know that scientists would approve of all the variables involved, but it's still interesting comparing natural, washed and production line waxed apples to see how they deteriorate in different settings.
